Montcalm County Animal Control Montcalm's 2003 Annual Animal Shelter report proves that this county is a dismal failure at operating a "shelter". The citizens of Montcalm should be embarrassed and rise up and demand better service. It's important to understand that the fate of stray dogs and owner turned in cats in Montcalm counties is either gassing in a 55 gallon drum or being sold to research. There is basically no chance of adoption. Montcalm does not use the free services of Petfinder.com or Pets911 to try and find adoptive homes. Shame on Montcalm County Animal Control - it is one of the worst in Michigan. The Montcalm County Animal Control 2003 Report reveals:
How you can help Rarely do we resort to these measures, but we believe the only way to get the attention of Montcalm County officials is through a boycott of the county. Please write Montcalm County Commissioners and let them know that until they stop selling to research, stop killing animals in barrels and start taking it's responsibilty in running a shelter seriously by actually adopting animals to good homes, you will not visit or even drive through their county.
