VOLUNTEERING
Jethro's Place assists Animal Control Shelters in a variety of ways. We promote adoption of shelter dogs and cats, arrange for food donations when shelters run low and are developing a spay/neuter program for rural shelters. We will be taking our message to the streets starting this spring in an effort to inform the public about the legislation to stop shelters from selling animals to research. We need your time and talent to meet our goals. Become a volunteer and make a real difference in the lives of homeless pets.
Volunteers are needed in the following areas:
Transport - we transport donation food to shelters throughout Michigan, help with taking dogs and cats from shelters to rescues.
Fundraising - we do not receive government funding and exist solely on donations. Volunteers are needed to organize and run fundraising events throughout the year.
Applications - we need help processing applications. We call references, interview applicants and visit homes to try and make a lifelong match with a Jethro's Place dog or cat.
Post adoption assistance - we need volunteers who will maintain contact with adopters to help with behavior issues.
Feral Cat Assistance Volunteers - one program that we will launch in 2004 is a trap/neuter/release feral cat program. Colonies will need dedicated caretakers willing to feed, water and visit the cats daily.
We have many other volunteer opportunities. If you are interested in becoming a Jethro's Place volunteer, please complete our
